Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber (B 1948)

Known for his majestic, soaring stage scores which spare nothing on the rapturous pomp, Andrew Lloyd Webber swiftly ascended to the king's throne of both the West End and Broadway scenes. Beginning in the early 1970s with JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, Webber unleashed an astonishing string of landmark musicals, including two of the Great White Way's longest running shows, the now-and-forever CATS and the organ-creeping PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Webber's creations even poked onto the American pop radio universe; "Superstar," "I Don't Know How To Love Him," and "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" all made the top 40 (for Murray Head, Yvonne Elliman, and Madonna respectively), while "Memory" garnered significant airplay.
